After obtaining the N.N.E.B at Chiltern Nursery Training College, I worked for many years in private and voluntary nurseries including Maxilla Nursery Centre. I carried on being involved in the management of the Westway Nursery Association after starting York Rise Nursery in 1991.
I studied Early Childhood Studies and recently completed management and leadership level 5.Having studied several styles of Early Years curriculum I decided that I wanted to open a nursery that worked closely with parents to encouraged children’s learning by concentrating on building independence, confidence and raising children’s self-esteem.
I am still as passionate today as I was 26 years ago and constantly strive to review and improve our practice by regularly training and developing new ideas. I have surrounded myself with a wonderful team of enthusiastic staff who all bring different skill to enhance our provision.
Hello my name is Donna. I started my journey of becoming a Nursery Nurse by achieving the GNVQ in Health and Social Care. I then went on to gain the Certificate in Child Care and Education, which lead me on to the Diploma in Nursery Nursing (NNEB, level 3). In 2016, I completed the level 5 in Leadership and ManagementI have been working with children for 21 years and have never regretted my decision. I have three children of my own and find working with children an exciting challenge. Children are inquisitive, curious and active learners whom bring each day a varied and different environment to work in.
I am the Deputy Manager as well as being responsible for the SEND provision at the nursery.
My name is Anjana Rinne. I started my training to be a childcare practitioner in Germany where I achieved a NVQ 3. After joining York Rise Nursery, I undertook a CACHE level 4 and qualified as an Early Years Advanced Practitioner. I am currently completing a CME in Early Childhood, which will enable me to be a fully qualified music teacher in the early years.I love to play guitar, violin, sing and enjoy speaking different languages like German, French and Italian – which I also like to incorporate into my work with the children. I am the music leader at the nursery and make sure that music flows through all areas of the nursery curriculum.
Hi, I am Wendy. I hold a NVQ 2 in Childcare. I have worked at the nursery for over 7 years. I am part time as I am also a Reiki Practitioner.
I enjoy being active and I am presently responsible for physical development and communication and language at the nursery. On Thursdays and Fridays, I run a ‘Little Breather’ class. Within this session, we explore different breathing techniques for relaxation.
My name is Yaz, my qualification is a CACHE level 3 diploma for the early years workforce and I have worked in 2 other London nurseries before joining York Rise Nursery this year.
I am responsible for food health and safety and creative art. My favourite part of the nursery day is curling up in the book corner, having one to one conversations with a child about a favourite book and feeling that I have helped them to develop their thoughts and imagination.
The staff team at York Rise Nursery are all qualified in early years.
All staff have regular DBS checks and attend safeguarding training.
All staff have first aid training
